CHANHASSEN – Pedestrian fatally injured at intersection

A 12-year-old girl died Wednesday night of injuries suffered after she was struck by a vehicle while walking her bike across an intersection in Chanhassen.

According to a report from Carver County Sheriff Jim Olson, Amy Marie Trudeau was crossing the intersection of Highway 101 and Sandy Hook Road, heading east, when she was struck by a southbound SUV at 4:30 p.m.

Trudeau, who was wearing a bike helmet at the time, was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Responding to the scene, in addition to Sheriff’s deputies, were the Eden Prairie police and fire departments, Chanhassen Fire Department, Hennepin County Ambulance, Ridgeview Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol.

Olson said that the incident is currently under investigation.
