The Watertown-Mayer girls’ golf team wrapped up the regular season last Monday, May 21, by finishing fourth in the Minnesota River Conference.
The final MRC meet at Ridges at Sand Creek included two separate nine-hole meets. The Royals finished fourth on both the front and back, shooting a 219 on the front and a 206 on the back.
On the front, which was won by Belle Plaine with a 172, the Royals were led by Sarah Horlocker, who shot a 54. On the back nine, which Belle Plaine also won with a 175, the Royals were led by Hallie Harding, who shot a 48.
Overall, Belle Plaine won the league title with eight points over the course of the season. Watertown-Mayer was fourth with 19 points.
Harding, Tiffany Anderson and Alli Lague all shot 55s on the front nine for the Royals, and Lyndzi Durkin and Madeline Nolan both shot 64s. On the back nine, Horlocker was at 50 and Anderson was at 51. Lague shot a 57, Nolan shot a 62 and Durkin shot a 65.
Overall on the season, Belle Plaine’s Becky Koepp won the conference championship at 12-over-par. Harding had the best finish for the Royals, taking eighth place at 45-over. Anderson finished in 11th place at 58-over, while Lague was 14th and Horlocker was 16th. Durkin finished 20th and Nolan was 23rd.
The Royals will be back in action Thursday, May 31, for the first day of the section tournament at Pebble Creek. Day 2 of the tournament is Monday, June 4.
