A combined 28 athletes from Watertown-Mayer, Mayer Lutheran, Waconia and Orono High Schools will compete in 15 different events Friday and Saturday during the state track meet at Hamline University in St. Paul.
With the exception of the 4×800 meter relay, which is a finals only event on Saturday and involves teams from both Mayer Lutheran and Waconia, as well as a couple of field events, most of the athletes will compete during preliminary events on Friday, with finals set for Saturday. The Class AA meet, which includes Waconia and Orono, begins at 9 a.m. both days, and the Class A meet, which includes Watertown-Mayer and Mayer Lutheran, begins at 3 p.m. both days. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students.
Competing for Watertown-Mayer are Katie Heilman in the 400 meters, Marissa Janning in the 300 hurdles, Caitlin Duske in the triple jump, Hunter Hulley in the high jump, the girl’s 4×800 relay (Janning, Heilman, Liz Miller and Hannah Johnson) and the boys’ 4×200 relay (Drew Walstrom, Nick Hix, Matt Scanlon, Dan Raiter).
Representing Mayer Lutheran will be Jessica Klaustermeier in the 200 meters, as well as the girls’ 4×200 relay (Klaustermeier, Josie Schreiner, Nicole Manteuffel and Ashlyn Hucky), the girls’ 4×400 relay (Manteuffel, Klaustermeier, Sam Bartz and Holly Johnson), the boy’s 4×400 relay (Sean Bartz, Kyle Fredrickson, Consti Siggelkow and Alex Fredickson) and the boys’ 4×800 relay (Alex Fredrickson, Kyle Fredrickson, Chase Greenhagen and Jessen Greenhagen).
Waconia will be represented by Anna Pioske in the 400 meters and the 4×200 relay team of Pioske, Stephanie Frempong-Longdon, Miranda Schultz and Kayla Christensen. Orono will be represented by Emily Knight in the 400 meters and Stephanie Knight in the 800 meters.
