June’s mother, Fay, passed away when June was only seven years old. Several years later her father, Alfred, met and married her beloved second mother, Elizabeth. June often told everyone that was the best gift her father ever gave her. And her mother, Elizabeth often said she loved June so much, she forgot she didn’t give birth to her and June became her right arm in keeping the home and raising the rest of her siblings. June attended country schools and graduated from high school at Lake Wilson. After which time she was employed as a dental assistant in Slayton, where she met her faithful husband, Donnie. On Jan. 20, 1954 June was united in marriage to Donald Stoterau in Chandler, Minn. To this union was born one son, Steven Donald Stoterau. In 1969, June and Donnie bought June’s parents farm in Hamburg, from which they retired in 1995. They then bought a home in Glencoe. They shared over 54 years of marriage, until Donald passed away on Sept. 24, 2008. After Donnie passed away, June sold their home in Glencoe and moved to Peace Villa in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, where she resided until the time of her death. June was a unique and energetic woman, very capable at sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, crafting and anything she set her heart upon doing. She also cherished the time spent with her friends and family. June passed away at the age of 78 years, nine months and 21 days. Blessed be her memory.
