William H. Herrmann

William H. "Bill" Herrmann, age 86 of Waconia, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012 at his home in Waconia. A funeral service was held Friday, June 1, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Reformed Church in Hamburg with Rev. Daniel R. Schnabel officiating; visitation was Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia and one hour prior to the service at church; chapel service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Interment was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers (grandsons) were Robert Hoernemann, Jeffrey Hoernemann, Matthew Hoernemann, Daniel Hoernemann, Todd Willis, Brian Casey and Paul Casey.

William was born on Feb. 5, 1926 in Washington Lake Township, Sibley County, the son of William M. and Elizabeth (Kroells) Herrmann. He was baptized at Zion Evangelical Church near Norwood by Rev. Quarter and confirmed by Rev. C. H. Zeyher on March 17, 1940 at Zion Evangelical Church. William attended School District 25 and then Central High School in Norwood Young America. Bill farmed with his parents until 1952 when he was united in marriage to Dorothy Bongard at St. John’s E and R Church of Bongards on Sept. 6, 1952. They farmed near Assumption. This union was blessed with five children. Bill served in the US Army from 1954-56. Dorothy passed away on Dec. 10, 1988. On April 2, 1992 Bill was united in marriage to Patricia A. Schmidt at St. John’s UCC in Bongards. They resided in Waconia and were married for 20 years. He was an active American Legion and Cologne Lion’s club member, volunteered at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia for 15 years, and belonged to St. Paul’s Brotherhood and was a groundskeeper at the church for 20 years. Bill was a lifetime farmer. Some of his hobbies included gardening, fishing and yard work.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Herrmann; son Richard Herrmann; son-in-law William Proffitt; sisters Agnes Dammann, Janet Hoese; infant brother LeRoy; brothers-in-law Harold Dammann, LeRoy Kohls, Clayton Hoese, Donald Miller, Martin Gruenhagen.

Bill is survived by his loving family: wife Patricia; daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Thomas Hoernemann of Chaska, Amy Proffitt of Big Lake, Julie and Tim Casey of Eagan, Lisa Herrmann of Waconia; step-daughter Maria Anderson of Eden Prairie; grandchildren Jina Willis, Robert Hoernemann, Jeffrey Hoernemann, Matthew Hoernemann, Daniel Hoernemann, Brian Casey, Ariel Casey, Paul Casey; Kelly Tibbitts; step-granddaughter Nicole Anderson; great-grandchildren Lucas Willis, Megan, Zachary and Emily Hoernemann; Mason and Brea Hoernemann, Jace Hoernemann; sisters Irene Gruenhagen of Waconia, Bernice Kohls of Norwood Young America; brother and sister-in-law Delmer and Dorothy Herrmann of Glencoe; sister-in-law Myra Miller of Cologne; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
