Fredrick O. Harms, age 82, of Cologne, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the Elim Home in Watertown.
Funeral service was held on Monday, June 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church (14735 CR 153) Benton Township, Cologne with Rev. Eric Zacharias officiating; visitation was one hour prior to the service at church; interment Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Fredrick Otto Harms was born on Jan. 23, 1930 to Martin and Laura (Bohlmann) Harms. He was the youngest of three boys. He was baptized on Feb. 9, 1930 at Zion Lutheran Church in Benton Township by Rev. Herman AmEnd and confirmed on April 2, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church Benton Township by Rev. R.H. Rottmann. He graduated from Waconia High School in 1948. Fredrick was drafted by the United States Marines on Dec. 6, 1951 and received his Honorable Discharge on Sept. 30, 1953.
Fredrick married Helen Tuey on Sept. 12, 1959 at First Baptist Church in Cokato by Rev. Howard T. Olson. Their union was blessed with three daughters. A lifelong resident of Benton Township, he was one with the land farming his entire lifetime and retiring in 1995. Being with his family was a top priority in Fredrick’s life. You could always catch him watching the Minnesota Twins whenever he had the chance.
Fredrick was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Helen; parents Martin and Laura Harms; brother Martin Harms.
Fredrick is survived by his loving family; daughters and son-in-law Roberta and John Lauzon of Monticello, Audrey Foley of San Antonio, Texas, Dorothy Harms of Cologne; grandchildren Christine Lauzon and fianc
