Mayer Report for June 28, 2012

By Cathy Stifter, correspondent

No Senior Pot Luck

Because of the 4th of July landing near the middle of the week, it was decided to postpone the monthly senior citizens pot luck dinner until July 9 instead of July 2.

Mark your calendar and tell your friends in case they do not see this notice in the local papers.

City Offices

The Mayer city offices will be closed on Wednesday, July 4. Have a safe and happy 4th of July!

Garbage Pickup

There will be garbage pick up only on Friday, June 29. Have bins at curbside by 7 a.m. During the week of July 4, garbage and recycle pick up will be a day later than usual, which will be on Saturday, July 7.

Mayer Rising

The Mayer Rising Community Festival plans are coming along nicely. Plan now on attending the many events scheduled for you and your family. The main attractions for the festival will be held on the grounds near the community center on Blue Jay Avenue.

Compost Site

Just a reminder that the compost site will be open on Wednesday evenings from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. until noon. With the many storms we have had, it is wise to take your fallen brush to the compost site. The garbage collector will not pick up fallen branches.

Farmer’s Market

The Farmer’s Market was to have started this past Thursday and will continue every Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at the beginning of the Dakota Rail path located on Highway 5 and County Road 30 on the south edge of town.

Garage Sale Update

Only two persons called to air their feelings about our latest all-city garage sale days. It has been suggested that a fall all-city sales day be held since so many other towns have the spring sales. Let me hear from more of you and just maybe we can bring this idea of having a fall sale up to the city council. Call me at 657-2128.
