Ann S. Hilk, age 87, of Waconia, passed away peacefully after a 10 year struggle with Alzheimer’s on Wednesday at the Lighthouse in Waconia with her family at her side.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waconia with Father Bennet Tran as the celebrant. Visitation was Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia and one hour prior to the Mass at church ; chapel service 7:30 p.m. Monday evening; interment Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Waconia.
Ann was born on May 2, 1925 in Cologne, Minn., the daughter of John and Lena (Leif) Buesgens. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Cologne. On Jan. 2, 1950 Ann was united in marriage to Raymond W. Hilk at St. Bernard’s Church Parsonage in Cologne with Father Reinke as the celebrant.
Ann was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend. She was a great farmwife helping out wherever she was needed. Ann loved to entertain people out at the farm, having family reunions, throwing card and birthday parties. She also enjoyed crafting. Ann really liked visiting with friends and family. Ann’s warm smile could light up a room.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband Raymond; parents John and Lena Buesgens; sisters Julia Zubay and Marie Cauley; brothers Frank and Ralph Buesgens.
Ann is survived by her loving family: son and daughter-in-law Steven and Alison Hilk of Waconia; daughter Nancy Hilk of Waconia; grandchildren Anne Hilk and Cassie Hilk; brother and sister-in-law Mark and Elaine Buesgens of Norwood Young America; sisters and brother-in-law Joan and Dick Joos of Hopkins, Jean Steinhagen of Victoria, Grace Sexton of Faribault; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
