Zachary Kayser of Norwood Young America graduated from University of Minnesota, Morris during the 49th Commencement Ceremony held on Saturday, May 12, 2012. Kayser earned a bachelor of arts degree in English and Spanish, with distinction. Graduates with "distinction" have a University of Minnesota grade point average from 3.75 to 3.89.
Lael Radde of Cologne has been awarded the Martin Seven English scholarship and Sid and Carol Verdoorn Foundation Teacher Education scholarship from Dordt College. Radde is a senior majoring in secondary education and English/language arts with an emphasis in coaching authorization. She also has a minor in the Kuyper Scholars Program.
Megan Shanahan of Norwood Young America received the Chancellor’s Award for the spring 2012 semester at University of Wisconsin-Stout. Shanahan is majoring in applied science. The award is presented to students who have a grade point average of 3.5 or above.
Kyle Stender of Cologne was named to Dunwoody College of Technology’s spring quarter dean’s list. Stender received this honor by upholding a 3.5 grade point average or higher.
Katherine Stuewe of Norwood Young America was named to the Dean’s List following the spring 2012 semester at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Stuewe is pursuing a major in Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
Stephanie Wichelman of Cologne has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2012 semester at Assumption College in Worcester, Mass. To make the Dean’s List, Assumption students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Clayton Keller and Joanna Schlegelmilch of Norwood Young America were candidates for graduation at the University of Minnesota-Duluth’s undergraduate commencement ceremony on May 12. Keller earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, and Schlegelmilch earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology.
St. Cloud State University
A number of students from Norwood Young America were among the graduates from St. Cloud State University following the spring 2012 semester. Elisa Paumen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management; Brittany Widmer earned a Bachelor of Elective Studies degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders; and Ashley Quaas earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.
A number of local students were named to the Dean’s List following the spring 2012 semester at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. To be named to the Dean’s List, a full-time undergraduate student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a scale of 4.0, or midway between an "A" and "B" average.
From Cologne: David Moteelall is majoring in Business Administration; Katherine Bruggman is majoring in Psychology; and Rachel Happe is majoring in Psychology.
From Hamburg: Angie Esselman is majoring in Animal Science.
