The Mound High School class of 1957 is celebrating their 55th anniversary this year during this Saturday’s Mound Centennial and Spirit of the Lakes celebrations.
Members of the class said the plans for the celebration began after they finished celebrating their 50th anniversary at the Gillespie Center in 2007. Karen Sherman, who is part of that group, said that 40 to 50 class of 1957 members plan to attend the celebration this weekend in Mound.
"After our 50th anniversary, we decided we wanted to go ahead and have a 55th and connect it to the Centennial celebration," she said. "The 50h was so fantastic. All of the other classes are comparing theirs because it was so special."
The group plans to begin the evening on Friday at the Spring Park Yacht Club from 6 to 10 p.m.
On Saturday, the class will participate in the Grand Day Parade at 10 a.m. in Mound. Then they will enjoy the rest of the Sprit of the Lakes Festival before enjoying an evening at Tom and Kathy Rockvam’s condo.
