The Crow River Valley League baseball season came to a close last weekend on Sunday, July 22.
The playoffs began earlier this week, with teams receiving the seed corresponding to their finish in the division.
Young America finished a solid season with a 15-6 overall record and a third place finish in the South Division.
Other local teams had a more difficult time this season, with Hamburg, Cologne and Norwood making up the six through eight seeds, respectively, in the South Division.
A resurgent Carver squad finished fifth with a 12-9 record ahead of Hamburg (11-10), Cologne (7-14) and Norwood (1-20), which posted the worst record in the league.
Those teams will face an uphill battle in the playoff picture this year, but the Cardinals have an inside track to compete in the region tournament, which they will host in August.
The playoffs for teams in the South Division began on Tuesday and will conclude on or before this Sunday.
As for matchups, No. 1 Green Isle is facing No. 8 Norwood; No. 2 Brownton is facing No. 7 Cologne; No. 3 YA is facing No. 6 Hamburg; and No. 4 Plato is facing No. 5 Carver.
The schedule is as follows. All week day games take place at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday games take place at 2 p.m.
