Letter: Freedom Farm Polo event draws 1,100 people

To the editor:

July 14 was the fifth Annual Freedom Farm Polo Event Fundraiser. It was a beautiful day for over 1,100 guests who were in attendance at BlackBerg Ranch in Watertown.

A very special thank you to Rob and Linda Berg who so generously continue to host this event each July and Cargill and Northern Oil and Gas as the team sponsors. For the seasoned polo fan and for those new to the sport, all were greatly impressed. The match was very exciting going into overtime with Team Cargill coming away with the win!

We are blessed to have the support of this community as this event is run by volunteers. Ryan Gilbertson, Rob Berg and Joe Fake were a huge part of the planning and success of this event. Our dedicated Freedom Farm volunteers were joined by Steve Raser and Dan Butter heading up the parking with Joel Brunner and Jake Oconal. Conner Berg was in charge of the ‘Freedom Farm People Mover’, getting our guests to their seats and worked hard for days leading up to the event. The Polo Event Program was brilliantly constructed by Jennie Menke.

All the proceeds from the fundraiser support the programs at Freedom Farm. Now in its 12th year, 60 riders come weekly for therapeutic riding lessons and "Healing with Horses’, a very special program for women veterans.

A very heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to all who participated in making this such an enjoyable day! You can view the day in pictures at freedomfarmMN.org.
