Mayer man ordained during service at Zion

Michael L. Schuette of Mayer was ordained into the Office of Holy Ministry of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod on Sunday, July 22, during a service held at his home congregation, Zion Lutheran Church of Mayer.

Zion’s Rev. Lucas Woodford delivered the sermon with the theme "Not By My Own Reason or Strength." The Rev. Dr. Peter Meier conducted the Rite of Ordination. Several LCMS pastors participated in the Laying of Hands at the close of the service.

Schuette, a graduate of Mayer Lutheran High School, received his bachelor’s degree at Crown College in St. Bonifacius and began his studies for the ministry at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Ind., in August 2007. He performed his year of vicarage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, Minn., in 2010-11, and then returned to the seminary to complete his final year.

On May 2, 2012, Schuette received the Divine Call into the ministry to serve as Associate Pastor at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morristown, Minn. He will be installed there during an installation service that will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5.

Schuette is the son of the late Kenneth Schuette and Eldoras Schuette of Mayer. He is married to Melissa (Zellman) and they are the parents of Breanna, Felicia, Cody and Calista.
