9 U baseball team participates in state tournament

The Mound 9U White Hawks qualified to participate in the Gopher State Tournament this past weekend.

Playing in the 10 and under division, it was an up and down experience for the White Hawks. The White Hawks led off with a victory over Farmington, the fourth ranked tournament seed on Friday night, July 27. They lost Saturday’s opener to Chaska, the eventual state runner up, followed by a big win over Watertown, the tournament’s third place finisher.

With three teams finishing with two wins and a loss, including the White Hawks, they lost the tiebreaker by allowing one more run scored than the other two teams.

The White Hawks finished a season that brought some competition against older teams. They competed in two 10 and under tournaments, winning in Lakeville and finishing second in Wayzata.
