The 2012 election season gets underway locally next Tuesday, Aug. 14 with the Primary Election.
Local voters in Norwood Young America, Hamburg and Cologne have the opportunity to cast their votes in the race for State Senate District 47 between incumbent Julianne Ortman and Bruce Schwichtenberg. Both are Republicans, and the winner will move on to face James Weygand (DFL) in the general election in November.
Polls will be open at the following locations from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Where to vote
Due to the recent redistricting process and/or routine polling place changes, the location at which you vote may have changed.
If you live in Norwood Young America, the polling location is the NYA Pavilion at Willkommen Memorial Park (21 E Main Street).
Cologne residents will vote at the Cologne Community Center (1211 Village Parkway).
In Hamburg, voters can go to the city hall at 181 Broadway Avenue. Young America Township residents will vote at that same location.
Benton Township voters should go to the Carver County Public Works facility near Cologne (11360 Highway 212).
In Camden Township, the polling place is Camden Township / New Germany City Hall (300 Broadway Street E, New Germany).
Dahlgren Township voters should go to East Union Lutheran Church Hall (15180 County Road 40).
Hancock Township residents should go to Hancock Township Hall (16610 Otis Avenue, NYA).
Postal verification cards have been mailed to voters whose polling place has changed. The Carver County Taxpayer Services Department urges you to verify your polling place, view sample ballots and obtain directions or check your registration status by visiting its Elections website found at www.co.carver.mn.us.
