Loren W. “Sonny” Lenz, age 79, of Watertown, passed away Sunday Aug. 19, 2012, at the Elim Home in Watertown.
The funeral service was held Wednesday, Aug. 22, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Watertown with Rev. Paul Krentz officiating. Interment at Watertown Public Cemetery.
Loren was born on July 10, 1933, in Watertown, the son of William F. and Dora E. (Schilling) Lenz. He was baptized on Aug. 6, 1933, at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Watertown Township by Rev. Rudolph and later confirmed there on March 30, 1947, by Rev. J.S. Spomer.
After serving in the United States Army, Loren worked mostly as a truck driver. He enjoyed reading the daily paper, visiting with friends, fishing and especially trips to Steamboat Lake. A big sports fan, Loren was always interested in how the Twins and Vikings were doing. Loren was proud of his 30-acre hobby farm outside of Watertown where he raised a few pigs and beef cattle.
Since September 2003, Loren has been a resident of the Elim Home in Watertown. He cherished the time with his family, especially his many nieces and nephews.
Loren is preceded in death by his parents William and Dora Lenz; brother Lester Lenz; sister Ardis Burandt; sister-in-law Carol Lenz; brother-in-law Keith Saunders.
Loren is survived by his brother William Lenz of Watertown; sister Marion Saunders of Waconia; brother-in-law Merlin Burandt of Waconia; sister-in-law Marjorie Lenz of Watertown; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Casket Bearers were Neil Burandt, Daryl Lenz, Fred Lenz, Gene Gabrelcik, Gary Schaust, Craig Anderson.
Honorary Casket Bearers were Donald Burandt and Jeff Saunders.
