Good times for runners at MRC scrimmage

It wasn’t an official race, but Central runners showed some good signs at a MRC scrimmage at the NEY Center on Monday, Aug. 27.

All Minnesota River Conference teams were on hand, with the exception of Mayer Lutheran, for the informal event, which included a 4,500-meter course and unofficial times.

Most notably, Alex Wischnack took first place overall in the boys’ race with a time of 15:29. Also running at the varsity level were Cole Sauter (17:28), Ben Barth (17:34), Chase Heuer (17:39), Alex Kayser (17:57), Josh Hendel (18:42) and Andrew Wischnack (18:43).

The girls also had a strong performance, with the top four Raiders finishing in the first 15 overall.

April Feist (19:27) led the girls, followed by Abbie Schnabel (19:52), Parry Larson (20:05), Judy Larson (20:05) Kayla Engelstad (23:45) and Emma Schmidt (27:07).

The cross country team’s next official meet takes place Thursday, Sept. 6 at Montgomery, and the next home meet at Baylor Park will be on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
