Zion Lutheran School is celebrating its 100-year anniversary of the Christian education ministry of Zion Lutheran Church. We well be having a Celebration Carnival on Saturday, Oct. 27, from 1-6 p.m. There will be lots of games, bouncy houses, pony rides, cheese curds, mini donuts, kettle corn, hamburgers and lots of other food. This carnival is for the whole community, come and enjoy! There will also be a turkey dinner on Sunday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pre-sale tickets will be on sale on Sept. 9.
Senior Citizens Pot Luck
The monthly senior citizens pot luck dinner has been rescheduled for Sept. 10 due to Labor Day falling on the previous Monday. All senior citizens in the area are encouraged to attend this social function. There are no dues to pay — just bring a dish of food to share. The dinner is served at 11:30 a.m. in the Mayer Community Center, which is located on Blue Jay Avenue. There are no steps to climb. The center is on street level for easy mobility for senior citizens. The game of Bunco will be played after the meal. If you don’t care to play Bunco, just come for the meal and fellowship.
The time that the compost site will be open has been changed to 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. It will also be open from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday mornings. The site is located on County Road 30 just west of the City of Mayer. Bring your garden waste at these times. Also take home some composted dirt for your garden.
The Mayer Farmer’s Market is still up and running on the corner of Ash Ave. S. and County Road 30 West, which is also the start of the newly constructed bicycling and jogging trail. Time for the market remains 3-6 p.m. on Thursdays.
Red Cross Bloodmobile
The American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held at the Mayer Community Center on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 1-7 p.m. Call Lois at 952-657-2161 to make an appointment.
