BOARD OF EDUCATION
Special Meeting
WATERTOWN, MINNESOTA
August 13, 2012

I.  The special meeting of the Watertown-Mayer School Board in the Watertown-Mayer Teaching and Learning Center on Monday, August 13, 2012 was called to order at 7:08 PM by Chair McCain.  Board members present:  Hoover, Janikula, McCain, Koehler, Salonek, Thompson and Burns.  Absent:  None.  Administration team members present:  Superintendent Marlette and Hittle. Absent:  Hennen, Fitzsimonds, Guertin and Piersak.
II. Visitor requests and consideration of agenda.   Request to move Item III to be discussed after item V.E.  MMS (Motion made and Seconded by) Hoover and Salonek to approve the agenda as amended. Passes 7-0
III. Discussion – moved following item V. E.
IV. Old Business:  None.
V.  New Business:
A. MMS Salonek and Thompson to approve the WM Administrative recommendation to add one (1) new First Grade Teacher, (1) FTE, for the 2012-2013 school year due to increased enrollment and high student classroom numbers.  Passes 7-0.
B.  MMS Thompson and Hoover to approve the 2012-2013 Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 new First Grade Teaching Contract for Courtney Johnson.  Passes 7-0.
C.  Motion to approve the annual Ameresco “internal” audit to show the savings to the District by their Energy Conservation Contract dies for lack of a motion.
D.  MMS Salonek and Koehler to approve the Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 District Policy514:  Bullying Prohibition Policy as presented.  Passes 7-0.
E.  MMS Salonek and Koehler to approve the Watertown-Mayer ISD #111 District Policy524:  Technology Resource Acceptable Use and Safety as presented.  Passes 7-0.

VI. Discussion of issues.
John McCain reported on the closed session for the July 17, 2012 board meeting regarding the legal negotiations on construction problems.
Main Topic #1:  How should the school district go forward with our construction problems to find resolutions?
Main Topic #2:  Superintendent Goals for 2012-2013 School Year
MMS Hoover and Burns to close the meeting at 7:26 PM to discuss the construction issues from the last meeting.  Re-opened meeting at 7:50 PM
