Legion, VFW events
The Waconia American Legion holds a sheephead tournament at 7 p.m. on Thursdays and a Texas hold ‘em tournament at 7 and 9 p.m. on Fridays. The Waconia VFW holds a meat raffle Fridays at 7 p.m. and bingo at 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
‘Alice in Wonderland’
SEPT. 13-16 AND SEPT. 21-22 – River City Theatre Company will present its seventh production, “Alice in Wonderland,” at the Watertown-Mayer High School Performing Arts Center. 1945 football reunion
FRIDAY, SEPT. 14 – The 1945 Waconia championship football team will hold its 67th reunion at Island View Golf Club in Waconia. Friends and classmates of the team are encouraged to join the team at noon for lunch at the restaurant.

Pet Adoption event
SATURDAY, SEPT. 15 – Carver Scott Humane Society volunteers will hold a pet adoption from noon to 3 p.m. It will be hosted at PETCO in Eden Prairie. All cats and dogs have been micro ID implanted, vet checked, wormed, had shots updated, checked for friendly temperaments, and age appropriately spayed/neutered. SATURDAY, SEPT. 15 – The Bonanza Nickle Dickle Day Book Sale at the Waconia Library will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sale includes a huge number of vintage and collectibles. SEPT. 16-17 – Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia will be offering two classes of Dave Ramsey’s updated Financial Peace University course, a class that uses video teaching, discussion, and interactive small group activities to help individuals learn to manage money wisely. Preview sessions are Sept. 16 at 9:30 a.m. or Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m. FPU classes will be offered on Sundays (starting Sept. 30) from 9-10:30 a.m. and Mondays (starting Oct. 1) from 6:30-8 p.m. Child care offered for preview sessions and classes. Caregiver Support Group
MONDAY, SEPT. 17 – Encore’s Carver County Adult Day Services Program and Emerald Crest Assisted Living Memory Care are partnering to provide a Caregiver Support Group to address the issues of caring for the aging. This is a great opportunity to meet and talk with other caregivers and local senior professionals to gain insight, resources and support! TUESDAY, SEPT. 18 – Memorial Blood Center will be hosting a blood drive at Trinity Lutheran Church from noon to 7 p.m. Summer months are always low for donations so the need is critical right now. TUESDAY, SEPT. 18 – Don’t let your creditors take advantage of you! Learn your rights in an introductory presentation on collection calls, lawsuits, wage garnishments, and bankruptcy. Voter ID program
TUESDAY, SEPT. 18 – The League of Women Voters of Eastern Carver County (LWV ECC) will hold a Voter Photo ID Program at the Chanhassen Recreation Center at 7 p.m. The format is speaker presentations followed by time for questions from the audience. The LWV will share its position regarding the amendment during the presentation.
