Just one game for the Crusader girls’ soccer team last week resulted in a 2-2 tie at Bethany Academy on Sept. 8.
After the first half, Mayer Lutheran trailed 1-0. Early in the second half, Bethany Academy scored another goal, only to have it reversed due to an offside penalty. Minutes later, Bethany scored a fair goal to put the Eagles up 2-0.
The Crusaders rallied to catch up, first on a goal by Belle Flucas, assisted by Liz Laurent. With the clock running down, Terrin Boozikee crashed the goal and scored a second Crusader goal to tie the game at 2-2 and forcing overtime. The Crusaders controlled the ball for most of overtime, with opportunities to score, but could not come up with a game-winner, and so the game resulted in the tie.
The Crusaders will host Watertown-Mayer on Sept. 18 and Spectrum on Sept. 20. Mayer Lutheran is 2-1-1 this season.
