LHS homecoming next week

Mayer Lutheran’s homecoming football game will be Friday, Sept. 28, against Norwood Young America, but a busy homecoming actually week kicks off Sunday, Sept. 23.
The annual Powderpuff football game will take place on the football field beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday with the senior girls against the junior girls. The BBQ dinner will be served at 5 p.m., after the game. This meal is a fundraiser for the Mission Trip Team and its project in Anapra. The Ironman volleyball game will follow the meal at 6 p.m. in the gym with the senior boys against the junior boys.
The homecoming coronation ceremony will be Monday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium, when the king and queen will be crowned.
Homecoming court members were elected earlier this month. The senior court consists of Anna Ernst, Ashlyn Hucky, Holly Johnson, Liz Laurent, Molly Michaletz, Cole Carns, Jared Hafemann, Neal Kroells, Evan Quaas and Nathan Schneewind. Junior representatives are Grace Gassen and Jack Mocol, sophomore representatives are Klara Koch and Nathan Hames, and freshmen representatives are Laura Welk and Jack Buttenhoff.
The school will also have dress-up days during the week. Monday is “Animal Print Monday,” Tuesday is “Autograph Tuesday,” in which students collect signatures of classmates on white t-shirts, Wednesday is “Super Hero/Secret Agent Wednesday,” Thursday is “Crusader Thursday,” and Friday is “Tackle Cancer Friday,” wear students are encouraged to wear pink to school and to the football game and support the football team’s fundraiser to help fight cancer.
Friday’s schedule includes the homecoming football game, pork chop dinner, and dance. Floats will parade around the field at halftime.
