Paint The Town
The Central Booster Club is once again painting driveways or sidewalks with the driveway tattoos (Cost $35). Show your Raider spirit and support your school with one! Contact Jodi Curson (952) 467-2000 if you are interested.

CAP agency
FIRST AND THIRD MONDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS — The CAP Agency WIC Voucher pick-up times for all residents of Carver County are from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the East Creek Family Center (303 E 6th Street, Chaska). For more information about WIC, call the CAP Agency at (952) 402-9869.

LEO Club meetings
FIRST AND THIRD SUNDAYS — Cologne Leos meet at 6:30 pm at 107 Paul Avenue South Cologne mn. 55322 (The Clubhouse). The group is also doing a monthly Parents Night Out to raise money for its rent. It consists of parents signing up and dropping their kids off at the Clubhouse on the nights the Leos are hosting and the group will provide crafts, games, a pancake meal popcorn and a movie. NAMI meeting
THURSDAY, SEPT. 20 — There will be a meeting of the National Alliance on Mental Illness at the Moravian Church, (209 2nd St E, Waconia) beginning at 7 p.m. Information will be available along with discussion.

Pillow Fluff
FRIDAY, SEPT. 21 — The Young America VFW Ladies Auxiliary #1783 will hold its annual Pillow Fluff at Lano Lanes (305 Wilson Street, NYA) from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pillows are cleaned, deodorized, sanitized and fluffed. Custom made new pillows and down comforters are available for purchase.

Hollanders beer bust
SATURDAY, SEPT. 22 — The Cologne Hollanders baseball team will be sponsoring a beer bust starting at 4 p.m. at Burky’s in Cologne. Tickets are available at the door for admission.  At 9 p.m., their Mega Raffle drawing will take place. There are some tickets left to purchase at the event before 9 p.m.

Membership meeting
MONDAY, SEPT. 24 — The Young America VFW Auxiliary membership meeting will take place at the Midtown Cafe with dinner at 6 p.m. Bring your dues and something for the silent auction.

St. John’s paper drive
FRIDAY, SEPT. 28 TO SUNDAY, SEPT. 30 — St. John’s Lutheran School in NYA will be hosting a paper drive. The truck will be parked at the north end of the school parking lot. Paper products and cardboard will be accepted. No plastic bags.

Pork chop dinner
SUNDAY, SEPT. 30 — The Plato Lions are hosting a pork chop dinner from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Plato Hall. Cost is $8.50 for adults, $6.50 for ages 5-12 and free for those under age 4.

Anniversary service
SUNDAY, SEPT. 30 — All are welcome for a special service honoring the 20th anniversary of Pastor Bill Baldwin’s ordination at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Plato. Both congregations that Pastor Bill serves will be there for a joint service at 10 a.m. A pork chop dinner and open house in the church’s basement will follow the service. Call St. Paul’s UCC  at (320) 238-2206, to reserve your spot at the dinner, or join us later for the open house between 1 and 2 p.m.

Soup and sandwiches
FRIDAY, OCT. 5 — Church of Peace (south side of Highway 212 in NYA) is hosting a soup and sandwich lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free will offering. There will also be a quilt raffle; tickets are $1. All are welcome. For more information, call (952) 467-3946.

FFA Corn Drive
FRIDAY, OCT. 5 — The annual NYA FFA Corn Drive for Camp Courage will be held. Students will be seeking corn or money donations on that date from local farmers and area businesses.

LWML Fall Barbeque
SUNDAY, OCT. 7 — All are invited to the LWML Fall Barbecue at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hamburg from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu consists of: barbecues or hot dog, potato salad, baked beans, chips, pickles, dessert and beverage. The cost for the dinner is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 4 – 10, and free for children under the age of 4. Takeouts available.

Centennial Singers
THURSDAY, OCT. 11 — The Aubsburg Centennial Singers, a 60-member choir, will appear in concert at the Glencoe City Center (1107 11th Street) on Thursday, Oct. 11. The concert, which features familiar hymns, barbershop and sacred music selections, begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, $8 for children and $30 for families. The Singers have made two trips to Norway and taken a concert tour in Florida and the southwestern states. They will present a series of concerts in Arizona next February. Country Fare
SATURDAY, OCT. 13 — East Union Lutheran Church (15180 County Road 40, Carver) invites everyone to its Country Fare event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Handmade crafts, collectible items, baked goods, quilted items, garden produce and homemade deserts. There is also a luncheon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Wine tasting event
FRIDAY, OCT. 26 — The West Carver Lions announce their seventh annual Food and Wine Extravaganza, which will take place at the Willkommen Park Pavilion. Limited tickets are on sale now for $20 at Good Time Liquors, The Flower Mill and Chameleon Salon.
