Eulalia M. Sunderman

Eulalia M. Sunderman, 64, of New Ulm, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 at Prairie Senior Cottages in New Ulm after a nine year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully. Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14 at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Rev. Kevin R. Dunn officiating. Burial was at 2:15 p.m. Friday at Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur.   Visitation was 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sep. 13 at Schmucker Funeral Service in New Ulm and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Eulalia Margaret Kahle, the daughter of Marvin and Dora (Raymond) Kahle, was born Dec. 16, 1947 in Le Sueur where she spent her youth and attended school. She graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1965. Eulalia was united in marriage to Jerold Sunderman on April 2, 1966 at the Presbyterian Church in Le Sueur.
Together, the couple farmed near Le Sueur from 1966 to 1981. They moved to New Ulm where they purchased Wallner Construction, owned and operated Sioux Valley Ready Mix, and Mobilcrete, retiring in 2001. Eulalia was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm where she was active in the church choir and Circle. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and eight grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling and going to league tournaments. She also enjoyed traveling in their motor home after retirement with her husband of 46 years to Florida, Phoenix, Ariz., and Deadwood, S.D.
Those left behind to cherish her memory, include her husband Jerry Sunderman of New Ulm; children Sharon Jensen of Waconia, Tom Sunderman (Melissa) of New Ulm, Rachel Drill (Brant) of Courtland, Marisa Landquist (Matt) of Waconia; eight grandchildren, Michaela and Haley Jensen, Madison and Parker Sunderman, Nolan and Jaden Drill, Claire and Brady Landquist; brother Kevin Kahle (Sue) of Le Sueur; brothers-in-law Al Sunderman (Joan) of Le Sueur, Elliot Grapentine of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son William Jerold Sunderman; sister Sybil Grapentine; niece Trudy Green; nephew Greg Grapentine; and mother and father-in-law Eudell and Paul Sunderman.
Memorials are preferred.
