CHS butterbraid sale
MONDAY, OCT. 1 TO WEDNESDAY, OCT. 17 — CHS juniors and seniors will be selling Butterbraids to support Post Prom. There are seven varieties including: Strawberry Cream Cheese, Apple, Cinnamon, Blueberry Cream Cheese, Almond Cream, Raspberry or 9 Carmel Rolls. Reserve yours for Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings. Delivery is Nov. 2. To place an order, call Pam Muehring at (952) 467-3784.

Soup and sandwiches
FRIDAY, OCT. 5 — Church of Peace (south side of Highway 212 in NYA) is hosting a soup and sandwich lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free will offering. There will also be a quilt raffle; tickets are $1. All are welcome. For more information, call (952) 467-3946.

FFA Corn Drive
FRIDAY, OCT. 5 — The annual NYA FFA Corn Drive for Camp Courage will be held. Students will be seeking corn or money donations on that date from local farmers and area businesses.

McDonald benefit
SATURDAY, OCT. 6 — A spaghetti dinner will be held for KJ McDonald of Watertown from 5 to 8 p.m. at Watertown City Hall. Free will offering; proceeds will be used for medical bills related to metastatic melanoma. All welcome.

Pancake breakfast
SUNDAY, OCT. 7 — The NYA Lions are hosting their all you can eat Fall Pancake Breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the NYA Pavilion. Free will offering. All proceeds go to community projects.

LWML Fall Barbeque
SUNDAY, OCT. 7 — All are invited to the LWML Fall Barbecue at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Hamburg from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Menu consists of: barbecues or hot dog, potato salad, baked beans, chips, pickles, dessert and beverage. The cost for the dinner is $6 for adults, $3 for ages 4 – 10, and free for children under the age of 4. Takeouts available.

Legion meeting
TUESDAY, OCT. 9 — The American Legion Post 343 will be holding its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. in the Roy Clay Building. The Veteran’s Park will be discussed and decisions made for location of items at the site. All members should plan to attend this meeting and voice their comments and issues for the good of the organization.

Norwood baseball mtg
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 10 — A meeting of the Norwood Baseball Club is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Lions building at the Sports Complex.

Marriage amendment
THURSDAY, OCT. 11 — A discussion on the Marriage Amendment  will take place from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church (41 E 1st Street, Waconia). Guest speaker: John Rodgers, Minnesota Catholic Conference.

Centennial Singers
THURSDAY, OCT. 11 — The Augsburg Centennial Singers, a 60-member choir, will appear in concert at the Glencoe City Center (1107 11th Street) on Thursday, Oct. 11. The concert, which features familiar hymns, barbershop and sacred music selections, begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens, $8 for children and $30 for families. The Singers have made two trips to Norway and taken a concert tour in Florida and the southwestern states. They will present a series of concerts in Arizona next February. Chili Cook-off
SATURDAY, OCT. 13 — The Carver County Parks Department is hosting the 9th annual Baylor Campground Chili Cook-off. All are welcome to make their best chili and enter it for judging at noon in the Community Room of the campground barn. Following judging, all are invited to a chili pot-luck with paper products, beverages, condiments and corn bread provided; a yo-yo performance by world champion Dazzling Dave will follow.

St. Bernard Chili Feed
SATURDAY, OCT. 13 — The Church of St. Bernard (212 Church St. E., Cologne) will hold a chili feed after the 5:00 p.m. Mass. All are welcome for live music, a chili supper (free-will offering), refreshments and fellowship. Tickets for the cash raffle can be purchased at the door for $25 (does not include supper).  Drawings are from 6 – 9 p.m. with cash prizes from $50 to $500. Need not be present to win.

Fabulous 50s
SATURDAY, OCT. 13 — The Richie Lee and the Fabulous 50s Concert, Classic Car and Corvette Cruise In will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. at the city center in Glencoe. Country Fare
SATURDAY, OCT. 13 — East Union Lutheran Church (15180 County Road 40, Carver) invites everyone to its Country Fare event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Handmade crafts, collectible items, baked goods, quilted items, garden produce and homemade deserts. There is also a luncheon from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Post prom meeting
SUNDAY, OCT. 14 — A Central Post Prom meeting will begin at 7 p.m. in the back room of the Pizza Ranch. Parents of senior and junior students are welcome.

Mission Fest
SUNDAY, OCT. 14 — Mission Fest will be observed at the 9:30 a.m. worship service at St. Paul’s Ev. Reformed Church (15470 County Road 31, Hamburg). The guest speaker will be Rev. Ryan Kron from the Emmaus Road RCUS Church in Eden Prairie. The public is invited to the worship service and to a pot luck dinner following the service. If you are able, bring a dish to share. Country Music show
SATURDAY, OCT. 20 — A two-hour country music show featuring Red Johnson, “country music with a heart,” and cowboy poet Rich Bellert will be held at 7 p.m. at the American Legion in Waconia. Event includes tribute to the late Walt Schmakel. Tickets: $10, available in advance at the club or at the door. All welcome.

Senior Expo
THURSDAY, OCT. 21 —  The Carver County Senior Expo will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. “The Season Never Ends” featuring Don Shelby as the keynote speaker. Also including breakfast treats, home-style hot lunch by Hillcrest Catering, exhibits, free health screenings, entertainment by Christian Nielsen, door prizes and much, much  more! Pancake breakfast
SUNDAY, OCT. 21 — The New Germany Commercial Club is hosting its annual pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the village hall. All profits are put back into parks and children’s holiday parties.

Wine tasting event
FRIDAY, OCT. 26 — The West Carver Lions announce their seventh annual Food and Wine Extravaganza, which will take place at the Willkommen Park Pavilion. Limited tickets are on sale now for $20 at Good Time Liquors, The Flower Mill and Chameleon Salon.

Holiday craft/bake sale
SATURDAY, OCT. 27 — A holiday vendor, craft and bake sale will be held at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be available. Door prizes will be given away every 1/2 hour and there will be a goodie bag given to the first 100 people. This event is sponsored by The Bumps Stop Here Relay for Life Team and a percentage of all sales go to the American Cancer Society.

Lions Octoberfest
SATURDAY, OCT. 27 — The Cologne Lions Club will hold its annual Octoberfest celebration at 7 p.m. at the Cologne Community Center. This year’s theme is “Haunted Forest,” featuring a Halloween Costume Party with Cash prizes for Scariest, Funniest, Most Original, and Best Costumes. This event will also include cash prizes, raffle tickets, silent and live auctions, games, appetizers and desert buffet, and a cash bar. Tickets are $30 each, and are available from any Cologne Lions member or by calling (612) 618-8365. Proceeds from this event help fund Community Improvement Projects. Come on out and have some “Halloween Fun”!

Refinery service
THURSDAY, NOV. 1 — The Refinery will have a church service at 7 p.m. on All Saints Day.  Location TBD. The Refinery is a daughter church of the Carver County Lutheran Churches Missouri Synod.  Rev. Michael Grannis is the minister.
