Fall Softener Salt Sale
The Waconia Wrestling and Baseball teams have kicked off their annual fall water softener salt sale. District 110 residents can order salt and have it delivered to their homes on Saturday, Oct. 13. Three types of softener salt are available, including coarse, pellet and iron. All proceeds benefit the WHS Wrestling and Baseball teams. Info: Kelly at (612) 396-1358.

First Friday service
FRIDAY, OCT. 5 – First Friday Recovery Service will be held at 7 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church (800 Waconia Parkway N, Waconia). All are welcome to attend this informal worship service. It is designed for anyone looking for support or healing with an emphasis on recovery from addictions. Waconia Booster Bash
FRIDAY, OCT. 5 – Attend a night of fun at this fundraising event for the Waconia Booster Club. It will be held at the Carver County Fairgrounds from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. (after the homecoming football game). Music: 73 Paces. Admission: free. Food, beverages available for purchase. Adults only; must be 21 or over.

FRIDAY, OCT. 5 – Mackenthun’s Fine Foods and the Waconia Band Boosters are sponsoring a Homecoming Kickoff. Buy a square yard of the Waconia football field and have a chance at winning a two-minute shopping spree at Mackenthun’s Fine Foods, a $75 or $50 gift card, or one of seven additional cash prizes. Tickets are available at Mackenthun’s, from band members, and at the gate of the homecoming football game.

SATURDAY, OCT. 6 – Carver Scott Humane Society volunteers will hold a pet adoption from noon to 3 p.m. at PETCO in Chaska. Cats and dogs available; all have been micro ID implanted, vet checked, wormed, had shots updated, checked for friendly temperaments, and age appropriately spayed/neutered. SATURDAY, OCT. 6 – A spaghetti dinner will be held for KJ McDonald of Watertown from 5 to 8 p.m. at Watertown City Hall. Free will offering; proceeds will be used for medical bills related to metastatic melanoma. All welcome.
Waconia FD breakfast
SUNDAY, OCT. 7 – The Waconia Fire Department will be hosting its Fall Pancake, French Toast and Sausage Breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 7. The event will be held at the fire station. Tickets are $6 (children age 5 and under admitted free). Tickets available from firefighters and at the door.
MONDAY, OCT. 8 – Waconia Area Women of Today is a dynamic, fun, diverse women’s organization interested in the betterment of our community. It volunteers its time, raises funds for charities, and provides informational seminars that are open to the public. The next meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Laketown Gym in Waconia. MONDAY, OCT. 8 – Carver County Public Health (600 E 4th ST, Chaska) will hold an Immunization Clinic from 3 to 5 p.m. Public Health provides immunizations to residents who do not have health insurance or whose insurance does not cover immunizations. Adult, childhood vaccines available. A $14 fee is requested for the administration of each MnVFC vaccine. No one will be denied service if unable to pay. THURSDAY, OCT. 11 – Calling all leaders, volunteers, and community members interested in serving people in need around Waconia. An informational meeting about the Community Action Committee will be held at 7 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. The meeting will introduce the committee’s ideas for creating a network which links local organizations together to better serve the community.

Family Fall Festival
FRIDAY, OCT. 12 – The community is invited to the Family Fall Festival at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the gym. Children, preschool-4th grade, will enjoy a bounce house, hayride, face painting, games, prizes, and more! Walking tacos, beverages, and dessert will be served.
St. Bernard Chili Feed
SATURDAY, OCT. 13 – The Church of St. Bernard, 212 Church St. E., Cologne will hold a Chili Feed after the 5 p.m. Mass. Join St. Bernard’s for live music, a chili supper (free-will offering), refreshments and fellowship. Tickets for the cash raffle can be purchased at the door for $25 (does not include supper). Drawings are from 6-9 p.m. with cash prizes from $50 to $500. Need not be present to win.

SATURDAY, OCT. 13 – The East Union Country Fare will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at East Union Lutheran Church. Annual fundraiser incudes luncheon, crafts, collectibles, baked goods, quilted items, garden produce, desserts and more.

Caregiver Support Group
MONDAY, OCT. 15 – Encore’s Carver County Adult Day Services Program and Emerald Crest Assisted Living Memory Care have partnered up to provide a Caregiver Support Group to address the issues of caring for the aging. This is a great opportunity to meet and talk with other caregivers and local senior professionals to gain insight, resources and support!
