CHS names homecoming royalty


Homecoming week at Central High School in NYA culminates this Friday with a parade, community pep fest, football game and dance.

The week began with a coronation ceremony on Monday, and the reigning royalty this year are King Matt Ditsch and Queen Brooke Willemsen.  coronation ceremony on Monday night.

Standing behind them are, from left: senior attendants Trevor Groschen, and Devan Mellgren, Cristian Perez and Haley Peterson, Sam Newbloom and Lexi Erpenbach, (King Matt Ditsch and Queen Brooke Willemsen), Emma Schmidt and Kyle Brazil, Brooke Brede and Tom Messner and 11th grade attendants Nicole Miller and Bryce Noeldner.

Friday’s events include a parade at 1:30 p.m. and a community pep fest in the school gym at 2:30 p.m. The football game against Sibley East begins at 7 p.m. with the school dance to follow.

There is a new parade route this year that does not cross Highway 212. The parade will begin at the elementary school, proceed to the five-way stop, turn left up SE 2nd Avenue and turn right near St. John’s Lutheran Church on SE 1st Street.

The procession will then turn left at the fire station on SE 3rd Avenue, pass the Flower Mill and take a left down Main street toward St. John’s school. A final left turn will bring the parade down Central Avenue for a finish on SW 7th Street at the school.
