Lucina A. Moonen, age 98, of Cologne, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012 at Friendship Manor Health Care Center in Shakopee.
Mass Of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 with Fr. Gregory Abbott as celebrant of the mass. Interment in the church cemetery. Visitation at the church was Saturday beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the mass.
Lucina A. Moonen was born the daughter of John and Mary (Bauer) Gast on May 4, 1914 in St. Bonifacius. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius. On Jan. 25, 1944 Lucina was united in marriage with Raymond Moonen at St. Boniface Catholic Church by Fr. Albert Heer. This union was blessed with four children.
Lucina enjoyed playing cards, quilting and embroidery work. She closely tended her vegetable and flower gardens, canning throughout the season and shared her goods with others. Lucina was also a great baker. She was active in the Cologne Senior Citizens where she had served a term as president. Lucina’s biggest love was her family.
Lucina is preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Gast, husband Raymond Moonen, brothers Lawrence Gast, Henry Gast and Raymond Gast.
Lucina is survived by her loving family: sons and daughters-in-law Raymond Jr. and Ann Moonen of Edina, Larry and Judi Moonen of Shakopee, John Moonen of Green Isle; daughter and son-in-law Bernadette and Frank McDonald of Shakopee; grandchildren Mike and Andrea Moonen, Molly and Chris Hohn, Kalie McDonald, Brian McDonald, Matthew Moonen, Elise Moonen, Kristin Moonen; great grandchildren Theodore Hohn, Jackson Hohn, Asher Moonen, Leonel Moonen; sister-in-law Charlotte Gast of Watertown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Serving as casket bearers Mike Moonen, Brian McDonald, Molly Hohn, Kalie McDonald, Kristin Moonen, Elise Moonen, Matthew Moonen.
