Marleen M. Fillbrandt

Marleen M. Fillbrandt, age 81 of New Germany, died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012 at the St. Mary’s Care Center in Winsted. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township, New Germany with Rev. Dean Mahlum officiating. Visitation was at St. John Lutheran Church from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday one hour prior to the service. Interment was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were grandsons and honorary casket bearers were granddaughters.

Marleen May Fillbrandt was born the daughter of Albert and Charlotte (Dressel) Schumann on April 17, 1931 in Hollywood Township of Carver County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Hollywood Township. Marleen was united in marriage with Harvey E. Fillbrandt on June 21, 1950 at St. John Lutheran Church. Marleen was a lifelong resident of Hollywood Township. She was an active member of her church where she participated in Bible studies, taught vacation Bible school and belonged to the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Marleen enjoyed playing cards, especially the game 500. She loved entertaining at her home and sharing the products of her kitchen. Marleen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Marleen is preceded in death by her husband Harvey Fillbrandt, grandson Daniel Fillbrandt, parents Albert and Charlotte Schumann, father-in-law and mother-in-law Oscar and Edna Fillbrandt.

Marleen is survived by her loving family: children and their spouses Calvin “Kelly” and Debra Fillbrandt of Lester Prairie, Renee and Kevin Horstman of New Germany, Debra and Brad Pawelk of New Germany, Bruce and Mary Fillbrandt of Mayer; grandchildren and their spouses Teri and Joe Dibenedetto, Kristi and Scott DuCharme, Katie Fillbrandt, Ryan Pawelk and fiancé Bria Swanson, Adam Pawelk, Jason and Amy Pawelk, Michael Pawelk, Matthew Pawelk and friend Darcy Maiers, Nathan and Sarah Fillbrandt, Emily Fillbrandt, Megan Fillbrandt; great-grandchildren Brennan Wischnack, Nolan Dibenedetto; sister and brother-in-law Gerane and Arnold Strehler of Monticello; nieces and nephews Lori and David Lohse, Lyle and Lori Strehler, Lee Strehler; other relatives and friends.
