A slow homecoming week for the Waconia volleyball team brought a win over Dassel-Cokato and extended the Wildcats to a six-match win streak.
When the Wildcats looked hesitant on the court on Oct. 2, the Chargers took full advantage. After the Wildcats won the first set 25-23, Dassel-Cokato picked up the defense to take the second set 25-23. Waconia went on to win sets three and four 25-20 and 25-15.
Senior Anna Pioske led the Wildcat offense with four aces, 28 kills, 28 digs, and four blocks. Sophomore Jessica Wolf dominated at the net with 20 kills, while junior Kirsten Wagener added an additional ten. Sophomore Anna Schmitt had three serving aces, along with 62 assists. Junior Samantha Paulson had 12 digs on the night.
Conference play wraps up this week at Orono on Oct. 9 and against Hutchinson on Oct. 11. The Wildcats need to win both to separate themselves from the pack and win the conference. Waconia leads the WCC (7-0), over Delano and G-SL.
