Mayer Fire Dept. Fish Fry
On Sunday, Oct. 28, members of the Mayer Fire Department will hold their Fall Fish Fry at the Mayer Community Center. Serving time will be from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Plan now to take the family out to eat dinner. Ladies from Zion Lutheran Church will be selling slices of homemade pie for you to purchase after your meal. You better go to eat early as the pies run out early.

Zion School News
Zion Lutheran School will be hosting a 100-year Celebration Carnival on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 1-6 p.m. There will be lots of games, bouncy houses, pony rides, hayrides, petting zoo and more. There will also be lots of fun food with cheese curds, mini donuts, hamburgers, hot dogs, kettle corn, caramel apple bowls, etc. Come join the fun and stay for an hour or for the day! Wristbands for kids ages 3-12 are $5 and cover all the games.

Zion will also be hosting a 100-year celebration worship service, turkey dinner and silent auction on Sunday, Nov. 11. The worship times are 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with the turkey dinner to be held from 11-1:30 p.m. Silent auction will close at 1:30 p.m. Advance tickets for the dinner are $10 per adult and $5 for kids age 4-10.  The tickets are for sale in the office of Zion Lutheran School the dinner will include turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, green beans, coleslaw, cranberries, rolls, pumpkin bars and pies.

Dates of Importance
The compost site will remain open on Wednesday evenings from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until noon until all the leaves are down.

There will be garbage pickup only this Friday. Have bins at curbside by 7 a.m.

Members of the Mayer City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22.

Out of the Mouth of Babes
While babysitting the great-granddaughter last week, I brought the broom into the house from the garage. She saw me with the broom in my hand and said, “grandma are you brooming?” She is only 28 months old and has been talking in sentences for a very long time.
