Marilyn Elizabeth Cohrs was born on Feb. 26, 1937 in Linn Grove, Iowa the daughter of Milford and Hildred (Smith) Mangold. She was baptized on June 13, 1937 in Linn Grove, Iowa and later confirmed in the Christian Faith at Amo Lutheran Church in Storden, Minn.
On May 1, 1959, Marilyn was united to Delwin S. Cohrs at Marilyn’s parent’s home in Westbrook.
Marilyn loved her family very much, they played a big role in her life, and she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities. You would often find her reading, bird watching, painting, cooking, and canning. She loved her peanut M&M’s, chocolate chip cookies and the outdoors, especially at her cabin and in her vegetable and flower gardens.
Marilyn graduated from Heron Lake High School, Heron Lake, Minn., and graduated from Nettleton Commercial College, Sioux Falls, S.D., in 1955 with a Junior Secretarial degree. She worked as a secretary at FSI in Chaska for a number of years and also volunteered her time at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran LWML and was in an Investment Club.
Marilyn will be remembered for her kind and gentle soul. She was selfless and often put others above herself. She lived a full and active life in spite of her many aliments. She faced every day with courage and a smile; never complained or asked why me. She continues to be an inspiration to her family and to many who were fortunate to know her.
Our hearts are broken but we are comforted by the many wonderful memories and knowing she is at peace.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Waconia, Methodist Hospital, and Ridgeview Medical Center.
