THURSDAY, OCT. 18 — The National Alliance for Mental Illness will meet at the Waconia Moravian Church (209 2nd St. E) beginning at 7 p.m.
THURSDAY, OCT. 18 — The Carver County Senior Expo, “The Season Never Ends,” will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Waconia High School. Featuring Don Shelby as the keynote speaker. Also including breakfast treats, home-style hot lunch by Hillcrest Catering, exhibits, free health screenings, entertainment by Christian Nielsen, door prizes and much, much more! Country Music show
SATURDAY, OCT. 20 — A two-hour country music show featuring Red Johnson, “country music with a heart,” and cowboy poet Rich Bellert will be held at 7 p.m. at the American Legion in Waconia. Event includes tribute to the late Walt Schmakel. Tickets: $10, available in advance at the club or at the door. All welcome.
SATURDAY, OCT. 20 — A vendor show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Laketown Gym (654 Industrial Blvd., Waconia). Pampered Chef, Tupperware, Usborne Books and many more vendors on hand. Sponsored by the Udderly Fed Up With Cancer Relay Team.
SUNDAY, OCT. 21 — The New Germany Commercial Club is hosting its annual pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the village hall. All profits are put back into parks and children’s holiday parties.
Raider TD Club
SUNDAY, OCT. 21 — The Raider Touchdown Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the Pizza Ranch. Anyone with an interest in Raider football is welcome to attend.

Wine tasting event
FRIDAY, OCT. 26 — The West Carver Lions announce their seventh annual Food and Wine Extravaganza, which will take place at the Willkommen Park Pavilion. Limited tickets are on sale now for $20 at Good Time Liquors, The Flower Mill and Chameleon Salon.
Holiday craft/bake sale
SATURDAY, OCT. 27 — A holiday vendor, craft and bake sale will be held at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be available. Door prizes will be given away every 1/2 hour and there will be a goodie bag given to the first 100 people. This event is sponsored by The Bumps Stop Here Relay for Life Team and a percentage of all sales go to the American Cancer Society.
SATURDAY, OCT. 27 — The Cologne Lions Club will hold its annual Octoberfest celebration at 7 p.m. at the Cologne Community Center. This year’s theme is “Haunted Forest,” featuring a Halloween Costume Party with Cash prizes for Scariest, Funniest, Most Original, and Best Costumes. This event will also include cash prizes, raffle tickets, silent and live auctions, games, appetizers and desert buffet, and a cash bar. Tickets are $30 each, and are available from any Cologne Lions member or by calling (612) 618-8365. Proceeds from this event help fund Community Improvement Projects.
SATURDAY, OCT. 27 — Craft and bake sale at Ascension Church in NYA (323 Reform Street) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fresh baked goods and homemade crafts. Lunch available. Raffle tickets for prizes will also be sold during the sale. Drawing at 1 p.m.
Chili, soup luncheon
SATURDAY, OCT. 27 — A Chili and Soup Luncheon and Bake Sale will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church of Hollywood (17725 53rd St., New Germany). Hosted by St. John LWML.
SUNDAY, OCT. 28 — Council 2506 will host a pancake and sausage breakfast at St. Joseph parish center in Waconia from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All proceeds go to the three parishes in the local council: St. Bernards, St. Joseph and St. Victoria.
THURSDAY, NOV. 1 — The Refinery will have a church service at 7 p.m. on All Saints Day. Location TBD. The Refinery is a daughter church of the Carver County Lutheran Churches Missouri Synod. Rev. Michael Grannis is the minister.
THURSDAY, NOV. 1 — The free “Fall Ball” will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. with the Marv Nissel Band at the NYA Willkommen Pavilion. A light lunch will be served. Legion Aux. meeting
MONDAY, NOV. 5 — A Legion Auxiliary meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Midtown Restaurant. Come celebrate the 93rd birthday of the American Legion Auxiliary. The group will also finalize plans for the Veterans Day Program and American Education Week. Ava Becher benefit
SUNDAY, NOV. 17 — Ava’s Unbreakable Spirit, a fund-raiser for the family of Ava Becher, will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Willkommen Park Pavilion in NYA. Chili feed, cash bar, silent auction, bucket raffle, raffle ticket drawing. Kids crazy hair, glitter tattoos and face painting by Tanglez Salon. Ava was born in July with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, commonly known as Brittle Bone Disease. She had suffered leg fractures while still in the womb and three additional leg fractures at two weeks old, which were followed by a broken arm. There is no cure for the condition, but various therapies and treatments can help.
