Painting from Mexico to MN
Janet Brose of Chaska is the featured artist at the Waconia Library for the month of November.
“My interest in painting began in the 1970s,” Brose said. “I attended Kay Faust’s weekly oil painting classes for three years through Community Education.
“My painting took a rest when I was employed in the print industry and graphic design field. When I retired years later, I picked up my paint brush again and pursued acrylics,” said Brose, who was one of the exhibitors at the “Artists of Carver County Exhibit” at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
“Wintering for two months in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, I began classes with Louise Shipley, learning acrylic painting,” she continued. “Returning to Chaska, I attend Sara Hanlon’s classes through Community Education. I continue to attend classes taught by Sara. While in Mexico, my images take on more abstract qualities, liberally laced with bright colors. In Minnesota, my works take on more subdued colors.”
