Youth sports highlights for 10-25

Girls from surrounding communities joined together to form one of many Crow River Raider fastpitch softball teams that participated in the MMFL fall ball league. This 16U team took second at the state tournament at Lake Ann Park, winning three of four games. The Waconia U11 MYSA girls’ soccer team finished the regular fall season 6-0, winning the division and advancing to the state playoffs. The team includes, front row: Ellie Gove, Alexandra Samuelson, Jenna Fawcett, Anna Edsill, Mikayla Olsem, and Gabby Erenstein; back row: coach Stacy Samuelson, Olivia Grundhofer, Elsa Bruellman, Alea Roitenberg, Chloe Jaeger, Tess Johnson, Maria Kirsch, Paityn Miller, and coach Scott Fawcett.

Twenty-one gymnasts from Legacy Gymnastics in Eden Prairie recently competed at the state qualifier meet on Oct. 7. The level 6 team placed first, and all eight team members qualified for the state meet on December 8-9. The level 5 team also placed first at the qualifier, with all 13 gymnasts qualifying for state.  The two teams are currently ranked second in the state and will compete at an invitational in Forest Lake on Oct. 27.  The level 6 team includes, front row: Danielle Miller (Waconia), Madeleine Glenna (Edina), and Madison Beatty (Eden Prairie); back row: Becca Holt (Eden Prairie), Eva Abler (Wayzata), Chloe Mayberry (Eden Prairie), Olivia Zellman (Shakopee), and Emma Siefker (Chanhassen).
