Refinery service
THURSDAY, NOV. 1 — The Refinery will have a church service at 7 p.m. on All Saints Day. Location TBD. The Refinery is a daughter church of the Carver County Lutheran Churches Missouri Synod. Rev. Michael Grannis is the minister.

Fall Ball
THURSDAY, NOV. 1 — The free “Fall Ball” will take place from 1 to 3:30 p.m. with the Marv Nissel Band at the NYA Willkommen Pavilion. A light lunch will be served. Plato blood drive

Deserts and Fashion
SATURDAY, NOV. 3 — The Good Samaritan Society, Waconia and Westview Acres (433 West Fifth Street) , is hosting Delightful Desserts and Decades of Fashion at 2 p.m. Dessert bar from various Twin Cities bakeries and decades of fashion show. Holiday Boutique
SUNDAY, NOV. 4 — St. Mark Lutheran Church in New Germany is having its 7th Annual Holiday Boutique from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at New Germany City Hall. Come and do your shopping from 21 different vendors like Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Scentsy and Thirty-One, just to name a few! There will also be a soup and sub luncheon available for purchase.

Youth wrestling signup
SUNDAY, NOV. 4 — All parents and interested youth in pre-K through 6th grade interested in wrestling will have a meeting and sign-up at the high school. Kids can come in and meet high school wrestlers, and be active in the wrestling room. Parents will meet in the commons to get information, ask questions of high school and youth wrestling coaches and do sign-up. Practices begin on Thurs. Nov. 8 in the wrestling room at 6 p.m. Come join the Raider Wrestling Family.

Legion Aux. meeting
MONDAY, NOV. 5 — A Legion Auxiliary meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Midtown Restaurant. Come celebrate the 93rd birthday of the American Legion Auxiliary. The group will also finalize plans for the Veterans Day Program and American Education Week. Join 4-H night
THURSDAY, NOV. 8 — 4-H New Member Night, open to all families, takes place from 6:45 to 8 p.m. at the Carver County Extension Office (11360 Hwy 212 W Suite 4, Cologne). Come and learn about the many different opportunities youth can explore in 4-H. Answers to any and all questions you may have in regards to the 4-H program. Participate in activities based on the National 4-H Youth Science Day Experiments. The experiments will give you a taste of the many different project areas. St. John’s paper drive
FRIDAY, NOV. 9 TO SUNDAY, NOV. 11 — St. John’s Lutheran School will hold a paper drive. The students and parents of the first and sixth grades will be there to help you unload Friday from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon and Sunday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The trailers are available for you to drop off your paper and cardboard items after 3 p.m. on Friday through Sunday afternoon.

Turkey bingo
SUNDAY, NOV. 11 — Ascension Catholic Church (323 Reform Street, NYA) is hosting a Turkey Bingo event from 1 to 3 p.m. Sponsored by Catholic United Financial. Matching grant money used for Catholic education.

Wrestling fundraiser
MONDAY, NOV. 12 — The Central Wrestling Club will be hosting a fundraiser at the NYA Pizza Ranch from 4:30 to 7:45 p.m. There will be a full buffet. All are welcome to help kick off the 2012-2013 wrestling season! New clothing will also be ready for purchase.

Poultry Party
FRIDAY, NOV. 16 — Plato Baseball is hosting a Poultry Party at 7:30 p.m. at Plato Community Hall. Bingo, raffle, paddle wheel, ham, turkey, pork chops, steaks, hamburg, chips, candy and beverages. Cash drawing for prizes up to $100; need not be present to win.

Ava Becher benefit
SATURDAY, NOV. 17 — Ava’s Unbreakable Spirit, a fund-raiser for the family of Ava Becher, will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Willkommen Park Pavilion in NYA. Chili feed, cash bar, silent auction, bucket raffle, raffle ticket drawing. Kids crazy hair, glitter tattoos and face painting by Tanglez Salon. Ava was born in July with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, commonly known as Brittle Bone Disease. She had suffered leg fractures while still in the womb and three additional leg fractures at two weeks old, which were followed by a broken arm. There is no cure for the condition, but various therapies and treatments can help.

Christmas Bazaar
SATURDAY, NOV. 17 — St. Bernard’s will host a Christmas Bazaar Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Bernard’s School in Cologne. Great hot dish lunch and craft items, quilt chances and baked goods.

Christmas Open House
SATURDAY, NOV. 17 — There will be a Christmas Open House at the Willkommen Heritage and Preservation Society (102 E Main St., NYA) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Heritage Center invites you to an indoor historical house tour displaying eight homes with eight Christmas trees and other decorations. Pancake breakfast
SUNDAY, NOV. 18 — All Saints Lutheran Church in NYA is hosting a pancake breakfast, including ham and scrambled eggs, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Free will offering. Open to everyone.

Dad’s Belgian Waffles
SUNDAY, NOV. 18 — An all you care to eat Dad’s Belgian Waffle meal will be served from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran School gym (27, 1st Ave. NW) in NYA. Carryouts available. Everyone welcome. Advance tickets available from St. John’s LWML or St. John’s Youth Group (call 467-2740 for more information). Proceeds benefit St. John’s LWML mission projects and St. John’s Youth trip to San Antonio Youth Gathering in 2013. Cost is $7 for adults ($8 at the door), $5 for children 6-12 and free for those under age 5.

Giving Thanks Supper
TUESDAY, NOV. 20 — All Saints Lutheran Church is providing a free meal to the first 75 people to make a reservation at the second annual Giving Thanks Supper from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the church (511 Merger Street, NYA). There is no cost — reservations can be made by calling (952) 261-5419 by Saturday, Nov. 17.
