Gertrude M. “Gertie” Geyen, age 71, of St. Bonifacius, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at Marie Steiner Kelting Hospice House in Chaska.
Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius with Father Tom Balluff as celebrant of the Mass. Visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church. Interment St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Gertie was born on Nov. 11, 1940 in Ivanhoe, Minn., the daughter of Antone and Leona (Dritz) Surma. Gertie loved her family very much, her grandchildren meant the world to her. Gertie and Dave loved taking their trips to Little Six Casino and going out to eat.
Gertie is preceded in death by her husband David Geyen; grandsons Adam, Mark and Mathew Geyen; parents Antone and Leona Surma; sisters and brothers-in-law Marie and Eddie Wunderlich, Dorothy and James Bloomer, Bernie Karls, Richard Burgmeier; brother Tony Surma; nephew Frankie Wunderlich.
Gertie is survived by her loving family; Children and spouses Cindy Barclay of St. Bonifacius, Mike and Patrice Geyen of Waconia, Jill and Neil Weinzierl of St. Bonifacius; Grandchildren Travis, Dustin and Nathan Barclay, Emily and Laura Geyen, Brayden and Rahni Weinzierl; Sisters and brothers-in-law Delores Burgmeier of Cottage Grove, Virginia Surma of St. Cloud, Josephine and Richard Kocon of Blaine, Judy Surma of Blaine, Alfred Karls of St. Cloud; Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Paul and Joan Geyen of Waconia, Robert and Rosie Geyen of Shakopee, Charles Geyen of Ohio, Fred and Marleen Geyen of Wayzata, Mary Lynch of Maple Plain; Nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Casket Bearers were her grandchildren.
