Obits – Myra Georgianna Jaekel
Myra Georgianna (nee Rudloff) Jaekel, age 90, of Cologne, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012 at The Lutheran Home Belle Plaine. Memorial Service was held Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Phil Wagner officiating at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia.
Myra was born on Feb. 22, 1922 in Watertown Minn., the middle child of Henry and Martha (nee Vollrath) Rudloff. Myra was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Waconia and continued to cling to Jesus our Savior and Lord through life’s many trials and tribulations.
Myra enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens. She canned and canned AND canned the bountiful produce from her vegetable garden. The kitchen was home to her. When she was not canning she was cooking and baking. She was a vital participant of the family farm and did everything from driving tractor to milking cows. Animals were an important part of her life, especially cats!
Her love of music began as a young child. Her older sister, Lona, was her instructor for her first piano lesson at age 6 … and Lona charged her a dime! Myra also played guitar, accordion and violin but piano remained her favorite.
As a young woman she and friends and go on “road trips.” One adventure took them to Texas. Another excursion was to California. They loved the weather in San Diego so much that they found jobs and lived there for six months! Another trip was a motorcycle ride to Brainerd to the newly-opened Paul Bunyan Amusement Park.
Myra was a member of The Arc. This is an organization serving people of all ages with developmental disabilities. Her involvement and love of all people led her to provide weekly cares and chores for two special individuals. This simply came from her heart and not part of any organization. She loved everyone and never spoke badly of anyone.
She doted on her nieces and nephews until she was blessed with two beautiful daughters of her own, Jodie and Jackie. They were the center of her universe.
Myra was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Martha Rudloff; her sister and brother-in-law Lona and Harvey Radde and her brother and sister-in-law Hilner and Marvella Rudloff.
She is survived by her husband Leonard, her two daughters Jodie (Mike) Stacken and Jackie Jaekel and many other loving relatives and friends.
A grateful thank you goes out to Michelle who was a great help to Myra and the staff of The Lutheran Home of Belle Plaine for their loving care. Also would like to express gratitude to the Trinity Lutheran Church Care Ministry Team, especially Janet her Befriender.
