Johnson defeats Mann in Watertown mayoral election
According to unofficial results, Charlotte Johnson has narrowly defeated Rick Mann in her attempt to become Watertown’s mayor.
Unofficial results show that Johnson received 1,087 votes, or 52.2 percent. Mann received 969 votes, or 46.5 percent.
Johnson, a former college educator who grew up in Watertown and later moved back to the city after retirement, said she is excited to serve her hometown.
“Thank you Watertown residents who voted for me,” Johnson said. “I’ll do the best job that I can serving you.”
Mann, a 34-year Watertown resident and a downtown business owner, has served on the city council since 2004. He has been serving as the acting mayor since K.J. McDonald’s death a little more than a month ago.
“I’d like to thank the Watertown community for the support during my 8 years on city council,” Mann said. “It’s been a great learning experience.”
