Southview Carnival
THURSDAY, NOV. 15 – The Southview Carnival will be held from 4 to 7:45p.m. Games, food, prizes, haunted house and more. All families are welcome.

Fraud presentation
THURSDAY, NOV. 15 – CASE (Communities Against Senior Exploitation) will give a presentation on fraud and identity theft from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Lighthouse of Waconia (500 S. Cherry St.). Refreshments. Info: (952) 442-1261.

THURSDAY, NOV. 15 – The National Alliance on Mental Illness support group will meet at the Waconia Moravian Church (209 2nd St. E.) at 7 p.m.

Poultry Party
FRIDAY, NOV. 16 – Plato Baseball will hold a Poultry Party at 7:30 p.m. at the Plato Community Hall. Food, bingo, raffle, drawings and more. All welcome.

‘Oklahoma’ at LHS
NOV. 16-18 – All are invited to enjoy Mayer Lutheran High School’s fall musical, “Oklahoma!” Performances are 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 17 and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18. Admission: $7 for adults and $5 (free for MLHS students). Tickets at the door.

Early Childhood screen.
FRIDAY, NOV. 16 – Early Childhood Screening is a free service offered by District 110 staff that will check a child’s overall development and health. Recommended screening age is between the ages of 3 1/2 and 4 years. Screenings take place at the Early Childhood Family Center, 520 Industrial Blvd., from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Info: 442-0613.

Rock on Ice event
FRIDAY, NOV. 16 – Enjoy a variety of music and the Rock on Ice lights and fog machine at the Waconia Ice Arena (1250 Oak Avenue) from 7 to 9 p.m. Adults: $3.50, students and seniors: $2.50. Suicide forum
SATURDAY, NOV. 17 – The Carver County Mental Health Consortium’s Suicide Prevention Community Forum will feature nationally recognized speaker Dr. Dan Reidenberg, the Executive Director of SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices in Education). The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.

Bazaar Luncheon
SATURDAY, NOV. 17 – The St. Bernard’s Christmas Bazaar Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Bernard’s School in Cologne.Great hot dish lunch. Craft items, quilt chances & baked goods.

Pork Chop Supper
SATURDAY, NOV. 17 – The American Legion Post 150 (233 Olive St., Waconia) is hosting a Pork Chop Supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Includes stuffing, German potato salad or mashed potatoes, vegetable, cole slaw. Price: $8.

Vendor Fair

Pancake breakfast
SUNDAY, NOV. 18 – Council 2506 will host a pancake and sausage breakfast at St. Joseph parish center in Waconia from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The council supports the parishes of St. Bernards, St. Joseph and St. Victoria.

Teen Challenge Choir
SUNDAY, NOV. 18 – Minnetrista Baptist Church (8325 Kennedy Memorial Drive in St. Bonifacius) is hosting the Minnesota Teen Challenge Choir at 10:30 a.m. The choir is composed of residents in long-term drug addiction treatment programs. Residents tell how they have recovered from substance abuse and alcoholism and how Jesus has changed their lives. A free will offering will be taken for Teen Challenge.

Holiday Open Skate
SUNDAY, NOV. 18 – A Thanksgiving Open Skate will be held at the Waconia Ice Arena (1250 Oak Avenue) from noon to 2 p.m. Adults: $3.50, kids/seniors: $2.50 (free admission for each participant who brings a donation for the Waconia United Food Shelf). Skate rental: $2.50. For safety reasons, skating aids/trainers will NOT be allowed on the ice for this event.

Caregiver Support Group
MONDAY, NOV. 19 – Encore’s Carver County Adult Day Services Program and Emerald Crest Assisted Living Memory Care provide a Caregiver Support Group to address the issues of caring for the aging. Great opportunity to meet, talk with other caregivers and local senior professionals to gain insight, resources and support! Meat Bingo Night
TUESDAY, NOV. 20 – New Germany American Legion Post 601 is sponsoring a Turkey, Meat, Goose Bingo night at the New Germany City Hall at 7 p.m. There will be 24 games. There will be three  $50 cash prizes given away and a turkey for a door prize. The Auxiliary will have hamburgers and a bake sale available.

CCLCCA meeting
TUESDAY, NOV. 20 – CCLCCA will hold training on “Family Child Care Money Management and Retirement Planning” starting at 6:30 p.m. with “Shaken Baby” viewing. WHS Tipoff Tournament
NOV. 23-24 – The Waconia Wildcat girls’ basketball team invites the community to the inaugural Thanksgiving Tipoff Tournament Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24 in the WHS gym. Friday, Elk River faces Zimmerman at 5 p.m. while the Wildcats square off against Hudson, Wis., at 7 p.m. The third place game will tip off at 2 p.m. on Saturday; championship game begins at 4 p.m.  Adults: $6, children: $3.

Waconia VFW steak fry
SATURDAY, NOV. 24 – The Waconia VFW will host a steak fry at the clubhouse in Waconia, 125 First St. W. from 5 to 8 p.m. Steak or chicken, baked and cheesy potatoes, cole slaws, dessert.

Toy drive event
SUNDAY, DEC. 2 – Mackenthun’s invites you to a bowling fundraiser to benefit the Waconia Toy Drive at Waconia Lanes. Shifts at 10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m. $100 per team or $25 per person, includes three games of bowling (no tap series). Vikings game on big screen. $25 per sponsorship.
