Jewell Ann Tietz, age 89, of Chaska, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 at the Auburn Home in Waconia.
Memorial Service was held Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church (23290 Highway 7) in Excelsior with Rev. John Zahrte officiating; a gathering of family and friends was held one hour prior to the service at the church; interment St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Chaska.
Jewell was born on Dec. 23, 1922 on a farm near Chanhassen to Walter and Ida (Moldenhauer) Plocher. She was one of six children. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chaska by Rev. Otto Kohen.
On Dec. 23, 1940, she was united in marriage to Orwin Tietz in Chaska by Rev. Otto Kohen at her dad and mothers farm near Chaska. She and Orwin lived in Excelsior for 25 years where their three children Diane, Robert and Steven all grew up. Later they moved to Lake Bavaria in Chaska, where they built a home. She was a good homemaker and also worked at many different places, including working for prominent families in the Excelsior area, Clark Manufacturing Co. in Spring Park and for the Kallstad Lab Company for nine years.
She loved all her family and loved doing things for them, one of her sons called her the cookie lady because she made tons of them. Jewell loved her flower and vegetable gardens and taking care of her grandsons, especially going fishing with them.
Jewell is preceded in death by her husband Orwin; father and mother Walter and Ida Plocher; brothers Albert Plocher and Floyd Plocher; sister Vernice Randall.
Jewell is survived by her loving family; daughter and son-in-law Diane and William Postel of Arlington; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Dotti Tietz of North Pole, Alaska, Steven and Sandi Tietz of Waconia; grandchildren Paul and Lisa Tietz, John Tietz, Spencer Tietz, Brenda and Darrin Klaassen, Dean and Jenni Postel; eight great-grandchildren; sister Mae Schmid of Victoria; brother and sisters-in-law Dahle and LeIsle Plocher of Waconia, Jane Plocher of Green Isle; nieces, nephews other relatives friends.
