Marvin G. Reich, age 86, of Waconia, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 in Norwood Young America.
Funeral Service was held Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lake Auburn Moravian Church in Victoria with Rev. Brian Dixon officiating. Visitation was held Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Waconia and one hour prior to the service. Prayer Service was 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Military honors provided by the Chaska VFW and American Legion posts. Interment Lake Auburn Moravian Cemetery.
Marvin was born on Nov. 6, 1925 in Ellendale, Minn., the son of George and Gladys C. (Clausen) Reich. He was baptized and confirmed at West Union Lutheran Church in Cologne. On June 12, 1947 Marvin was united in marriage to Lillian C. Goldschmidt at Lake Auburn Moravian Church in Victoria by Rev. Frank Splies.
Marvin moved to West Union with his family early in his youth. He attended school in Waconia and graduated in 1944. Marvin served in the United States Navy, was a member of the American Legion Post 57 and VFW Post 1791 in Chaska. He enjoyed bird watching, yard work, hunting, fishing and painting. Marvin could often be found listening to old-tyme music, watching football and playing cards. Marvin was a faithful member of Lake Auburn Moravian Church.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents George and Gladys Reich; granddaughter Megan Reich; father-in-law and mother-in-law Harold and Evelyn Goldschmidt; brothers-in-law Milton Felt and Karl Klatt.
Marvin is survived by his loving family: wife Lillian; sons and daughter-in-law Michael and Carol Reich of Excelsior, Myron Reich and friend Trisha Melton of Waconia; grandchildren Danielle and Robert Nystrom, Tyler Reich, Austin Reich, Abigail Reich; sister Beverly Felt of Chaska; brother and sisters-in-law John and Dian Reich of Henderson, Nev.; Marjory Klatt of Buffalo; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
