TUESDAYS – Lakeside Networkers is a local BNI business networking group that meets weekly on Tuesdays at 7 a.m. at Lola’s Lakehouse in Waconia to share referrals and grow businesses. All are welcome to attend the meetings.

Legion, VFW events
The Waconia American Legion holds a sheephead tournament at 7 p.m. on Thursdays and a Texas hold ‘em tournament at 7 and 9 p.m. on Fridays. The Waconia VFW holds a meat raffle Fridays at 7 p.m. and bingo at 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
WIC voucher pick-up
The CAP Agency WIC voucher pick-up dates for all residents of Carver County are the first and third Monday and Wednesday of each month. WHS Tipoff Tournament
NOV. 23-24 – The Waconia Wildcat girls’ basketball team invites the community to the inaugural Thanksgiving Tipoff Tournament Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24 in the WHS gym. Friday, Elk River faces Zimmerman at 5 p.m. while the Wildcats square off against Hudson, Wis., at 7 p.m. The third place game will tip off at 2 p.m. on Saturday; championship game begins at 4 p.m. Adults: $6, children: $3.
Waconia VFW steak fry
SATURDAY, NOV. 24 – The Waconia VFW will host a steak fry at the clubhouse in Waconia, 125 First St. W. from 5 to 8 p.m. Steak or chicken, baked and cheesy potatoes, cole slaws, dessert.
THURSDAY, NOV. 29 – Mark your calendars for Thursday, Nov. 29! For the first time in many years, there will be a Tree Lighting Ceremony in City Square Park to kick off our Homespun Holidays in Waconia! Starting at 6:30 p.m., there will be live music, cocoa and cozy fires in the park. The Tree Lighting will be at 7 p.m. The shops of Waconia and many downtown businesses will have Open Houses from 5 to 8 p.m., so you are encouraged to take a Candle Light Stroll.
Breakfast with Santa
SATURDAY, DEC. 1 – The New Germany Commercial Club will be hosting its Annual Breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. to noon at city hall. Pancakes and delicious Schroeder Sausages will be served. Santa usually arrives around 8:30 a.m. All area youngsters are invited and will receive a treat bag from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The St. Mark Youth will also be hosting a bake sale at the breakfast.
SATURDAY, DEC. 1 – Carver Scott Humane Society volunteers will hold a pet adoption from noon to 3 p.m. at PETCO in Chaska. Kittens, cats, dogs available. All cats, dogs have been micro ID implanted, vet checked, wormed, had shots updated, checked for friendly temperaments, and age appropriately spayed/neutered. SATURDAY, DEC. 1 – Waconia/St. Boni Girl Scout troops present a Children’s Holiday Gift Boutique from 9:30 a.m. to noon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia. Event allows children to purchase gifts for family members. All items priced under $3. Shopper helpers assist young shoppers. Baked goods. Adult gift table. Receive tote bag with Toys for Tots donation while supplies last.
Toy drive event
SUNDAY, DEC. 2 – Mackenthun’s invites you to a bowling fundraiser to benefit the Waconia Toy Drive at Waconia Lanes. Shifts at 10 a.m., noon, 2 and 4 p.m. $100 per team or $25 per person, includes three games of bowling (no tap series). Vikings game on big screen. $25 per sponsorship. Singing Friends concerts
DEC. 2, 8 & 9 – The Singing Friends Chorus performs at Church of Peace (424 Franklin Street North) in NYA on Sunday, Dec. 2; at St. Mark Lutheran Church (211 Adams Avenue South) in New Germany on Saturday, Dec. 8; and at First Congregational United Church of Christ (1400 Elliott Avenue North) in Glencoe on Sunday, Dec. 9. Early Childhood screen.
DEC. 6 & 7 – Early Childhood Screening is a free service offered by District 110 staff that will check a child’s overall development and health. Recommended screening age is between the ages of 3 1/2 and 4 years. Screenings take place at the Early Childhood Family Center, 520 Industrial Blvd., from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 6 and 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on Dec. 7. Info: 442-0613.
Rock on Ice event
FRIDAY, DEC. 7 – Enjoy a variety of music and the Rock on Ice lights and fog machine at the Waconia Ice Arena (1250 Oak Avenue) from 7 to 9 p.m. Adults: $3.50, students and seniors: $2.50.
