Legion supports educators

The Edward Born Unit 343 American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) proudly honored the educators of our NYA area schools and public library in observance of American Education Week (November 11-17, 2012). The A.E.W. theme is “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility”.

Auxiliary members Judy Schindler, Janet Stolz and Annice Wichelmann gathered at the Stolz home on November 13th to assemble the AEW Gift Baskets. After preparation was complete the Gift Baskets were personally delivered to the area educators at the following locations: the ISD#108 Public Elementary School, Public Middle School, Public High School, Kurious Kids, Community Education, St. John’s Lutheran School, Emanuel Lutheran School and the NYA Public Library.

Auxiliary members donated the prepackaged cookies and EconoFoods gave a donation towards the Braeburn apples for these gift baskets.

Each gift basket included a Thank You card, Braeburn apples and prepackaged cookies. The card, handmade by ALA member Jeannette Bachmann, read:

Thank You,
“Education is growth.
Education is not a preparation for life,
Education is life itself.”
— John Dewey

NYA Area Educators – ISD #108

American Education Week is
a wonderful opportunity
To honor the individuals who
are making a difference
In each child’s life through
providing a quality education.
These apples and cookies are
just a small way to
Show our appreciation for
the wonderful work you
Are doing with our children.
