Darryl Will

Darryl “Willy” Earl Will, age 68, of Hamburg, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012 at his home in Hamburg. Memorial services were held Friday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, with interment following at the church cemetery. Clergy officiating: Pastor Donald Andrix; organist: Cheryl Andrix; congregational hymns: “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Jesus Loves Me,” “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” “I Know That My Redeemer Lives”; honorary urn bearers: Hamburg Fire Department; urn bearers: Mike Buckentin, Larry Mueller, Delmer Droege, Robert “Schiptz” Mueller, Dave Franck, Brad Droege, Dennis Feltmann, Norm Thoele.

Darryl “Willy” Earl Will was born on Nov. 10, 1944 in Glencoe, the son of Oscar and Lorna (Schultz) Will. Darryl was baptized as an infant on Dec.10, 1944 by Rev. L. T. Wohlfeil, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 30, 1958 by Rev. E. H. Borher, both at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. He received his education at Hamburg Public School and Emanuel Lutheran School in Hamburg and was a graduate of Norwood Young America Central High School Class of 1962. On Feb. 24, 1968, Darryl was united in marriage to Lois (Graupman) Bohlmann by Rev. R. L. Reith at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Patrick and Eric, and two step sons, David and Donald. On March 28, 2003, Darryl was united in marriage to Doris (Harbarth) Bacon at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gaylord. This marriage was blessed to include Darryl’s step children, Lonnie and Marlene. Darryl and Doris shared over 9 years of marriage.

Before graduation, Darryl worked for Buster and Frieda Clark in the hatchery and at Bruer’s Mobil station. After graduation, he worked for R.W. Graupman Building Contractors for five years, Richter Electric for 22 years and Eaton Corporation in Eden Prairie for 19 years until Darryl retired. He was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. Darryl was also a member of the Hamburg Fire Department for 31 years, where he served as the fire chief for 13 years. Darryl enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, gardening, old time music, dancing and watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He loved to hunt and fish. Darryl especially cherished the time spent with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Darryl passed away one day after his 68th birthday. Blessed be his memory.

Darryl is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Lorna Will; sisters, Diane Breyer, Sandra “Sandy” Herrmann.

Darryl is survived by his: wife, Doris Will of Hamburg; sons, Patrick “Pat” Will and his special friend, Jodi Drees, of Norwood Young America, Eric Will of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; David Bohlmann and his special friend, Nancy Kroells, of Green Isle, Donald “Donny” Bohlmann of Norwood Young America, step-children, Lonnie Bacon and his wife, Jeanine, of Winthrop, Marlene Barfknecht and her husband, Daren, of St. Peter; six grandchildren, Taylor Bohlmann, McKenzie Bohlmann, Brady Will, Kalvin Barfknecht, Keaton Barfknecht, Emersyn Bacon, Baby Bacon arriving in March 2013; sister, Marlene Graupman of Chaska; brothers, Warren Will and his wife, Barb, of Jordan, Douglas “Doug” Will and his wife, Donna, of Ft. Worth, Texas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerome and Marlys Warzecha of Glencoe, Edwin and Mavis Frauendienst of New Auburn, Gerald and Lois Urban of Amboy, Minn., Ernie and Jan Breyer of Glencoe, Bob Herrmann of Hamburg; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
