Mayer News for Nov. 29

Mayer Moves for Moxie

The city of Mayer and the Mayer Park Board are excited to offer you two new unique program challenges for 2013.

Building Your Way to Wellness is a weight loss challenge that will run from Jan. 24 through March 21. This program is an eight-week, physical activity program that will help you become more active. Participate as an individual or as a team. Track you minutes of daily physical activity while receiving tips about hydration, cross-training, stretching and more.

Compete against others each week to reach your goal and instill healthy habits that can last a lifetime. Challenge yourself to win in the weight loss challenge with the highest percentage of weight lost as an individual or team to win cash rewards.

Train for the Trail is a program designed to build strength and endurance for the great outdoors, and will run from April 4 to May 23. Participants will have the chance to track their minutes of daily physical activity and strength training each week. Try new exercises and cross training ideas to prepare you to cover more outdoor ground, negotiate a variety of terrain and carry equipment with ease.

Sign up for one program or both. A discount will be given for those who sign up for both programs.

Mayer Moves for Moxie will conclude with an optional 5K run/walk. Watch for a newsletter pertaining to the above programs and for sign-up information.

Recipe for Dressing

With the winter season just around the corner, I thought the following recipe for dressing would be appropriate:

1 pair of mittens; 1 warm jacket or coat; 1 scarf, 1 hat, 1 pair of boots; Mix together, label thoroughly and apply to one child with love before he or she starts out to school or play.
