Watertown-Mayer juniors Brooke Leaf and Erica Cleckler are planning to attend the 2013 National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine this upcoming summer. The girls were nominated by their Biology teacher, Denise Ertl, because of their achievement and abilities demonstrated in Biology and Chemistry classes and interest in a future career in medicine. Another W-M junior, Rachel Heidorn, has elected to attend the National Youth Leadership Council on Business Solutions.

By attending the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine, Leaf and Cleckler will experience a hands-on, interactive curriculum that includes shadowing practicing physicians, clinical site visits at the nation’s top medical centers and meeting and interacting with faculty from world-renowned medical institutions.

Students who have attended in previous years have watched procedures, gain perspectives from residents and professionals in the field of expertise, visit a variety of medical colleges, labs and care facilities.

Heidorn’s experiences will give her similar insights and networking from a leaders from different fields of business. She is planning to attend the forum location at Stanford University in California. Each of these forum opportunities attract students from all over the United States and from other countries as well lending an important multi-cultural experience for all those who attend.
