Breakfast with Santa
SATURDAY, DEC. 1 — The New Germany Commercial Club will be hosting its Annual Breakfast with Santa from 8 a.m. to noon at city hall. Pancakes and delicious Schroeder Sausages will be served. Santa usually arrives around 8:30 a.m. All area youngsters are invited and will receive a treat bag from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The St. Mark Youth will also be hosting a bake sale at the breakfast.
SATURDAY, DEC. 1 — Carver Scott Humane Society volunteers will hold a pet adoption from noon to 3 p.m. at PETCO in Chaska. Kittens, cats, dogs available. All cats, dogs have been micro ID implanted, vet checked, wormed, had shots updated, checked for friendly temperaments, and age appropriately spayed/neutered. Kids Only Craft Sale
SATURDAY, DEC. 1 — The 21st Annual Kids Only Craft and Bake Sale, sponsored by the West Carver Girl Scouts, will take place from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Central Elementary in NYA.The sale will be open to children age 12 and under only from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., after which time the sale will open to adults who would like to shop. There will be an adults’ table in the cafeteria beginning at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This is a chance for children to purchase gifts for loved ones inexpensively and without adults knowing what they will be receiving. All items will be wrapped at the sale. All shoppers must bring a list of people they are buying for, money and a sack to carry their gifts home in.
Holiday Open House
SATURDAY, DEC. 1 — A Holiday Open House will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mayer Community Center. Christmas shop with 30+ local participants. Door prizes.
Pose your pet
SATURDAY, DEC. 1 — Paws Inn Resort (8127 Yale Ave., New Germany) is holding a Pose Your Pet with Santa event from 9 a.m. to noon to provide decorated Christmas trees for families in need. Bring the pets and kids out for Santa pictures, refreshments and prizes! The $10 donation will help provide quality foster care for pregnant cats and their kittens at Paws Inn Resort too! Come and get your goodie bag, stay for the silent auction and door prizes! Donations of five decorated Christmas trees to families in need will take place this year. Please bring a new or gently used ornament to help adorn the tree and brighten a family’s home this season.
Advent season service
SUNDAY, DEC. 2 — St. Paul’s Ev. Reformed Church of Hamburg invites the community to the start of this year’s Advent Season. Time of fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. with Christmas cookies and Hors d’oeuvores. The Advent Service led by the Youth of the Congregation will follow at 7:30. Singing Friends concerts
SUNDAY, DEC. 2 — The Singing Friends Chorus, a 30-voice local community choir, will present three Christmas concerts this year. The first is on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at Church of Peace in NYA. Additional concerts will be held Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, New Germany, and Sunday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m. at First Congregational UCC in Glencoe. There will be a freewill donation and refreshments will be served after the concerts.
‘Music through the Decades’
SUNDAY, DEC. 2 — A performing arts venturing crew called Crew 88, consisting of students from Orono and NYA, will perform a free show, “Music through the Decades,” in the high school commons at 5:30 p.m. All attendees are asked to bring a food shelf item.
St. Nick’s Dinner
FRIDAY, DEC. 7 — St. Bernard’s is hosting St. Nick’s Dinner & Entertainment from 5:30 to 10 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Dinner, entertainment and live auction. Childcare available. Contact the school for ticket information at (952) 466-5917.
Breakfast with Santa
SATURDAY, DEC. 8 — Come out to the NYA Pavilion at 9 a.m. for a light breakfast and a chance for kids to see Santa. Cost for children is $5/ticket regardless of age. Tickets are on sale at the Flower Mill.
