Snowflakes– Where and How Are They Possible?
School age children will track the cycle of the snowflake and get to the bottom of this mystery; then create beautiful artwork inspired by these formations on Saturday, Dec. 8. Have a Green Christmas
For children ages 7 and up. Learn tips for having a greener Christmas with the Green Gift Gala Listen to the story “When Santa Turned Green,” and then enjoy craft time to make Christmas gifts, ornaments and wrapping paper from recycled materials at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17. Program presented by the Carver County Historical Society. Please call to register.
Shake, Rattle & Roll to the Music of Storytime
For Ages 3-6. Get ready to make music and join us for a special storytime where children and their caregivers will learn about classical music through stories, live music, and rhythm at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4. Children will have an opportunity to play with drums, egg shakers, and other auxiliary instruments. A musical petting zoo will also be featured at the end of the storytime session where children will have a chance to try different instruments that introduce sounds, rhythms, pitches, and instrument techniques. Funded by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. No registration required.
Free Criminal Expungement Clinic
Expungement is the process of going to court to ask a judge to seal a court record. People request an expungement when they have been denied a job, housing, or a professional license because of a criminal incident that shows up on a background check.
Attend an informational session and meet individually with an attorney regarding whether this is a realistic option for your situation and receive assistance with filling out the court documents at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14. No pre-registration is necessary. The Clinic will be held in the EOC Training Room, Lower Level, Carver County Government Center, 604 E. 4th St., Chaska (across the hall from the Law Library).
December Topic (1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22 at the Chanhassen Library only): Marketing with a focus on setting goals. Future meetings will address editing, legal issues, and search engine optimization.
Author’s Collective Mission Statement: “A Community of Authors collaborating to mutually enhance and nurture writing that is stimulating, creative, and informative.” The Author’s Collective provides an opportunity to gather and share a wealth of knowledge. Each gathering discusses a topic related to publishing and provides a time for Q & A. Join local authors to share common experiences and publishing concerns in an informal setting. The group is open to and made up of authors representing various genres.
