Masonic Lodge awards scholarships
Waconia Masonic Lodge No. 326, Waconia, awarded scholarships to two Waconia High School 2012 graduates. Worshipful Master Charles Schmidt presented the awards at the Awards Night at Waconia High School. The scholarships presented were two $1,000 scholarships to a deserving graduating senior girl and a deserving graduating senior boy. The students are Taylor Marcie Helle, and Zachary Steven Rolf, both of Waconia. Helle will be attending the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus in Minneapolis. She is the daughter of Linette and Christopher Helle. Rolf will be attending Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. He is the son of Kim and Steven Rolf.
Waconia’s Gabe Nielsen receives COF scholarship
Catholic Order of Foresters (COF), headquartered in Naperville, Ill., awarded $10,000 in tuition reimbursement to COF youth public school members attending a Catholic religious education program, kindergarten through high school. Gabe Nielsen of Waconia is among 200 winners selected in a random drawing to receive a $50 award for the 2012-13 school year. A member of St. Francis Court 774, Nielsen, son of Scott and Lisa Nielsen, attends St. Joseph Parish in Waconia. COF annually awards more than $150,000 in scholarships, educational and tuition assistance rewards. Established in 1883, COF has more than 140,000 members nationwide and ranks among the top 10 fraternal insurance societies in the United States.
